Andoverpis — Yomar AUGUSTO
Andoverpis is the first solo exhibition by Brazilian artist and graphic designer Yomar AUGUSTO, in Belgium. The exhibition is a collection of calligraphy, typography, art projects and books since 2009. Andoverpis emphasises the relationship between geometric figures and hand-made organic forms.
Yomar AUGUSTO comes from a new generation of designers and graphic artists in Brazil. Born in Brazil, raised in Rio de Janeiro, and initially trained as a graphic designer, Yomar went on to study photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He then pursued a Masters in Letter Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Netherlands, between 2004 and 2005.
He has already presented both commercial and conceptual projects at exhibitions in Japan, Europe and Brazil. Yomar also designed for numerous brands such as, EMI, Warner Music & MTV in Brazil, 180 Amsterdam, Adidas World Cup 2010 & Icon network in the Netherlands, Fur Fur & Graniph in Japan, Random House in New York.
Since 2002, he has taught experimental calligraphy workshops in Brazil, Russia, Denmark, Turkey, Spain, China, Portugal and the Netherlands. Around the year 2011, Yomar lived in Rotterdam. Where he was part of The Rotterdam Collective Ro-Co and a teacher at the Willem de Kooning Academy. In 2012, Yomar moved to New York.
