kreon

The design of the kreon collection bears witness to a thought process in which each lighting solution is reduced to the bare essentials. This search for the purest of objects, for the benefit of architecture, demands a deep insight into the intrinsic value and alignment of our various architectural forms. However varied the architecture around us may appear, everything can — theoretically speaking — be reduced to a number of basic forms. Indeed, kreon considers its light fittings to be objects in which each element is evolved from its purest form. A similar approach has been adopted in the creation of our ‘kreon’ house font.

We worked with Antwerp-based type designer Fred Smeijers (OurType) to develop a custom typeface for the company. The design is based on simple geometric forms (circles, squares and triangles), in which every surplus detail has been removed in an effort to focus on simplicity. A geometric font to suit kreon’s philosophy and ideas.
