Sailing ahead, European shipping sets ambitious goals for its next chapter
‘Climate’ and ‘sustainability’ are at the top of the list of 10 strategic priorities for EU shipping policy over the next five years. As the European Parliament has just started its mandate and the European Commission's College is being composed, ECSA published its new strategic priorities for 2019-2024, outlining ten priority areas which the European shipping industry will be focusing on.
10 priority areas
The publication outlines ten priority areas on which the European shipping industry will focus. The climate is the top priority for the whole shipping sector. The industry is keen to work with its European and global partners to achieve the IMO's target of reducing CO2 emissions by at least 50% by 2050.
