Russian Route is a booklet published by the Mercator Fund europalia.russia. The Russian route wants to offer everyone the chance to discover why Peter the Great visited Brussels or why a lot of illustrious and lesser known Russians went for a stroll along the streets of the capital or even stayed there for a while. Often, their traces are still visible present in the streets. Besides Brussels the route also goes through Antwerp and Mechelen to the residential area ‘Little Russia’ in Zelzate.
For the titles we have chosen the letter Stenberg of the Russian type designer Tagir SAFAYEV. Stenberg fitted perfectly with the Gill Sans (text) and the Lubalin (small titles). The booklet was printed in 2 colors. Besides the black, we obviously chose for RED (PMS 185). First we have travelled the route ourselves with our first brand new digital camera! The chapter images were film coated with a transparent red to distinguish it from other black and white images in the book.
