De Stad van Elsschot In Situ, 2009
Antwerp Book Capital asked the main subject In Situ of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp to concentrate during a year on the life and work of author Willem ELSSCHOT.
Art students Femke VAN GULCK, Frederik VAN REMOORTERE, Lies VANDEVORST, Ulysses and William OST CORTEN gave a refreshing look at the works of the famous Antwerp writer. During three weeks their quirky creations were exhibited in public spaces in Antwerp.
Lecture marathon
If stil alive, Willem ELSSCHOT would have celebrated his 127th anniversary on May 7, 2009. As a tribute, some well known and other less known ELSSCHOT lovers read out loud from his oeuvre during 12 hours next to the artwork Kleine boekjes worden groots. Among others Joke VAN LEEUWEN, Peter HOLVOET-HANSSEN, Tom NAEGELS, Maarten INGHELS, Philip HEYLEN, Stijn VRANKEN, Patrick JANSSENS, Paul SCHRIJVENS were well disposed towards ELSSCHOT.
